About Me

Hi! I'm Mrs. Hernandez. Welcome to my teacher blog! I am a first grade teacher at a primary school. Over the past ten years, I have taught at various summer camps and worked as a teacher and co-teacher in several kindergarten and first grade classrooms. I just completed my third year of teaching first grade and I love it!

I love to teach but I also love to learn. I currently hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design and a Masters in Elementary Education. I don't think you can ever learn enough no matter how many degrees you hold! Before venturing into teaching, I worked as a children's illustrator. It was a really fun job but I longed for the social interaction of working with kids, not just for kids, so I made the scary jump and officially switched careers. Looking back on my decision, I don't regret it for a second. With teaching, I get the chance to merge both of my interests: art and education. I am so lucky to have found a job that I am truly passionate about and love!

I am also a vegan (a.k.a. strict vegetarian)! That means I don't eat anything made with animal products such as dairy (butter, cheese, milk, etc...) as well as any meat, fish, or poultry. It has now been over ten years since I have eaten any kind of meat and I love how healthy it makes me feel each and every day.
